Jammu, Dec 22: Deputy Commissioner Jammu Avny Lavasa on Thursday chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) here to discuss the formulation of an action plan for enforcement of road safety measures, decongestion of the city and ensuring smooth traffic flow in the district.
The meeting held threadbare deliberations with regard to the management of traffic, including identification of black spots, removal of roadside objects that distract drivers, creating awareness about road safety rules through print and electronic media, improvement of lighting on vital roads, better functioning of Intelligent Traffic Management System, provision of critical care ambulances, regular health/eye checkups of drivers and conductors, etc.
The DC stressed upon all the stakeholder departments to be proactive in formulating a comprehensive Road Safety Action Plan on a priority basis. She directed the concerned officers to take all required measures to decongest the city roads for a smooth flow of traffic.
Lavasa directed the concerned departments to ensure that school buses and other vehicles engaged in the transportation of children must comply with the traffic rules. She instructed the officers that no vehicle be allowed to ply without High Security Registration Plate (HSRP), PUC, fitness, insurance and other documents. She asked them to take strict action against the violators. ADC(ADM), Sandeep Seonetra; DEPO, Devinder Singh Manhas; Additional SP Traffic, RP Singh besides officers of the concerned departments were present in the meeting.
