New Delhi, June 30: Nationalist Congress Party leader Supriya Sule has praised the efforts of the National Mission for Unity and Brotherhood (NMUB) in promoting peace in Kashmir.
Sule, who spoke from her constituency in Maharashtra’s Baramati, said the people of Kashmir deserve a better quality of life and that any initiative aimed at achieving peace and brotherhood is a step in the right direction.
The NMUB has outlined several initiatives to promote peace and unity in Kashmir. These include the formation of a core group to shape the organisation’s future actions, as well as the creation of subcommittees to organize events and provide common platforms for Kashmiris around the world. The organisation also plans to form action committees to work at the grassroots level and bridge gaps between different communities.
Several prominent voices from the region addressed the meeting, including Sheikh Manzoor, MH Malik, Saiyed Zegham Murtaza, and Sushma Bhat. They highlighted the importance of sustained efforts towards peace, dialogue, and empathy, and called for a collective commitment to healing the wounds of the past.
Rakesh Sapru, a Kashmiri Pandit said: “We need to bring the youth to the table and immerse them in the rich culture and traditions of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh. Let them witness how Kashmiri Pandits celebrated their festivals, how Muslims rejoiced, and how these communities eagerly awaited these occasions to celebrate together. Our task is clear: form teams that will journey to Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, bridging generations and fostering understanding.”
Supriya Sule’s endorsement of NMUB’s efforts is significant, as it demonstrates a commitment to dialogue, peace, and harmony that transcends party lines. Her statement echoes the sentiment that any initiative aimed at positively impacting the lives of Indian nationals is a step in the right direction.
