Jammu, Nov 29: Youth National Conference leaders Zameer Abdullah and Zaheer Abdullah on Friday reaffirmed their commitment to addressing the challenges faced by the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. They vowed to adopt pro youth policies which they claim will provide opportunities to the younger generation for their coming future.
Zameer and Zaheer, the sons of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, addressed a meeting of the Youth National Conference (YNC) functionaries held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan here which was chaired by Tejinder Singh Aman, District President Jammu Urban JKNC Youth. “The meeting focused on the mounting challenges faced by the youth of Jammu and Kashmir due to anti-youth policies adopted by the successive regime headed by the BJP, particularly in light of the ongoing recruitment scams and rising unemployment,” the party said in a statement issued here.
Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of JKNC, expressed serious concerns over the “lack of progress” in addressing youth issues during the previous regime. “The failure of the BJP government in creating adequate job avenues in the country has led to mass suffering of the youth, Jammu and Kashmir has been the worst victim of this broken commitment. He said that unemployment is at its peak in the UT. Youths are left with no option but to come out on roads seeking justice,” he said. “Even the PhD degree holders are finding it difficult to get the jobs, leave aside the others having lesser qualifications.”
Gupta demanded that aspirants in J&K should be given a fair deal by giving them age relaxation on the lines of the KAS examination.
Zameer Abdullah in his address stressed the need to support the youth for a brighter future. He emphasized the importance of creating sustainable employment avenues, reforming the education system and fostering a youth-centric development agenda. “We are resolute in our mission to empower the youth and restore their confidence in governance,” he said.
He said the NC government will take all possible steps to insulate the young population from the menace of drugs, which has gripped this part of the country very badly. He also strongly supported the young and aspiring youths of J&K by asking SSB and J&K PSC to consider the demands of the protesting youths.
Inspiring the NC youth wing activists, Zaheer Abdullah laid stress on ensuring holistic grooming of the young population at school and college levels. “India is a country of 65 per cent youths and it could do wonders if the energy of its young people is channelised and used in a prolific manner,” he said.
Zaheer assured that the NC government will prioritise policies that uplift and empower the youth, ensuring their rightful place in shaping the future of the region. He called upon the youth to actively participate in the Party’s mission, urging them to support efforts to rebuild a prosperous and inclusive Jammu and Kashmir.
Zameer and Zaheer reiterated NC’s commitment to standing by the aspirations and needs of the youth in their fight for justice and a brighter future.
