Srinagar, Jan 30: The National Conference (NC) deleted a post about a pay hike for Special Police Officers (SPOs) in J&K after it created confusion among thousands of SPOs.
The party later issued a clarification, saying the post was shared without verification.
The now-deleted tweet, posted from NC’s official social media handle, suggested that the SPOs’ honorarium had been increased. However, after the post gained traction and sparked reactions, the party removed it.
The party also announced the removal of its Social Media Advisor to the Vice President for sharing “unverified” information.
The NC clarified in a statement that the post regarding the SPOs’ honorarium had been shared from various handles without proper fact-checking. “This post should not have been put out. While we have been strongly advocating for an increase in the honorarium and making every effort to achieve it, no such hike has been approved yet,” the party said, adding that the National Conference remains committed to fighting for better wages for SPOs.
