Srinagar, July 01: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference has constituted a committee led by senior party member and former Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather to develop the party’s manifesto for the upcoming assembly elections.
Following approval from the appropriate authority, party general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar on Monday issued an official order regarding the formation of the committee, the party said in a statement, adding that the committee has been tasked with presenting a draft of the manifesto within 45 days.
Rather has been nominated as the chairman of the manifesto committee, with senior party members including Mian Altaf Ahmed, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, Justice (retd) Hasnain Masoodi, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, Nasir Aslam Wani, Rattan Lal Gupta, Sakina Itoo, Sharifuddin Shariq, Muhammad Yousuf Taing, Prof Nisar Ali, Khalid Najeeb Suhrawardy, Adv Muzaffar Ahmad Khan and Adv Shaukat Ahmad Mir as members of the committee, the party said.
Meanwhile, the National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah will preside over a two-day working committee (Majlis-e-Amila) meeting at the party headquarters, Nawa-e-Subha here on July 04 and 05.
The meeting will address several issues affecting both the public and the party, with a special focus on preparations for the upcoming assembly elections, the NC said in a statement.
The party’s General Secretary, Ali Muhammad Sagar has issued a directive to all invitees to ensure their presence at the meeting venue.
