Jammu, March 23: Natrang captivated theatre enthusiasts with a brilliant performance of the Hindi comedy play ‘Chor’, written by Rajindra Kumar Sharma and directed by Neeraj Kant, at Natrang Studio Theatre as part of its Sunday Theatre Series.
Brimming with situational comedy and unexpected twists, the play received resounding applause for its witty dialogues and engaging storyline. The play presented a dramatic household incident in a highly theatrical manner. Naresh, the protagonist, is abruptly woken in the middle of the night by an unusual noise. To his shock, he discovers a girl disguised as a thief, threatening him at gunpoint and demanding money. Despite his pleas, she remains unfazed, appearing as a hardened criminal. However, in a surprising turn of events, Naresh seizes the gun—only to realise it is fake. The situation takes another unexpected twist as the girl begins blackmailing him, threatening to accuse him of misconduct if he refuses to comply. The commotion draws Naresh’s wife and brother-in-law from the next room, who express their suspicion over the locked-room scenario. Just as Naresh resigns to his fate and prepares to surrender, the thief finally reveals her true identity—she is his sister-in-law, orchestrating an elaborate prank to make her first meeting with him unforgettable.
The play featured Mehak Chib, Adaksh Bhagal, Aryan Sharma, and Manvi Devi in key roles. The lighting was designed by Neeraj Kant, with music composed by Kartik Kumar, and Mohd. Yaseen coordinating the show. With its clever writing and stellar performances, ‘Chor’ once again highlighted Natrang’s commitment to delivering high-quality theatre that entertains and engages audiences.
