Ganderbal, Nov 20 : The Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) has initiated a rigorous drive to curb traffic violations in the Ganderbalp district, targeting drivers operating vehicles without valid documentation and minors driving in violation of traffic laws. The campaign aims to enhance road safety and enforce stricter adherence to traffic regulations in the region.
Manzoor Ahmad Qureshi, Inspector MVD Ganderbal informed Rising Kashmir that 105 vehicles have been issued challans since the drive commenced, with fines amounting to ₹1.45 lakh. “Just yesterday, over 100 vehicles were penalised, and a total fine of ₹1.50 lakh was imposed,” he said.
As part of the enforcement, the department seized four heavy vehicles and six motorcycles for violations, including riding without helmets. Additionally, two driving licenses were suspended for repeated offenses.
Inspector Qureshi emphasised the department’s commitment to maintaining road discipline. “We will not tolerate vehicles operating without valid documentation,” he said.
He also urged parents to prevent minors from operating vehicles, warning of strict action against violators. “Parents must ensure that minors do not drive bikes or cars. Anyone found driving without proper documentation will face strict action,” he said.
During the current year MVD Ganderbal has collected fines totalling ₹7 lakh till date. The department continues to advocate for compliance with traffic and motor vehicle laws, emphasising the importance of adhering to safety measures to ensure safer roads for all.
