Jammu, Oct 3: The Central Government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a “thorough and painstaking exercise” by crafting the Ayushman Bharat Scheme to “bail out” poor and needy populations from the out-of-the-pocket medical expenses which earlier used to hit them hard, said Priya Sethi, National Executive Member of BJP, on Tuesday.
The BJP’s Social Media Prabhari and former minister said this after inaugurating a medical camp in Krishna Nagar, Ward 12 here. The camp was organized by Chakshu Kapoor Mahila Morcha general secretary of Jammu district in collaboration with NGO Live For Others- Being Helpful Foundation as a part of Sewa Pakhwada.
During the camp, Dr Aadhunik Gupta, Physiotherapist from Aadhunik Physiotherapy Clinic and Dr Saurabh Kalsotra from Swastik Dental Clinic examined the patients. The Rotary Club of Jammu Midtown also conducted free tests like sugar and BP check-ups. Among others who participated were Mandal President Keshav Chopra  Asha Gupta Ranju Sharma and Chanda Kerni
The former minister said that after about 70 years of independence, the country has witnessed such a medical revolution which will prove to be a boon for nearly 80 crore people. She said that Ayushman Bharat, a flagship scheme of the Government of India, was launched as recommended by the National Health Policy 2017, to achieve the vision of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
“This initiative has been designed to meet Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its underlining commitment, which is to leave no one behind,” Sethi said, adding that the BJP government led by PM Modi has achieved this feat due to its policies which are equitable and non-discriminatory because this scheme along with many others is meant for all the people of the country without any prejudice or partition.
Priya said that awareness is the only way to prevent the complications of different diseases but unfortunately even today there are a lot of people who run for magical cure which only delays the treatment ultimately leading to complications. “The people need to come forward for their routine check-ups not only in the camps organised for the purpose but also in the health institutions across this Union Territory as the government has ensured enhanced facilities in these institutions including those in the remote and far-flung areas,” she said.
The senior BJP leader urged the people to be health conscious and keep regularly monitoring their health to avoid any complications in future. She also complimented the organisers for holding this medical camp with an aim to provide healthcare facilities at their doorsteps.
