Srinagar, Dec 20: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Langate, Sheikh Khursheed has urged the government to take concrete steps to ensure that people do not face hardships during the harsh winter. He met Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, V K Bidhuri and apprised him about various public issues pertaining to Langate Constituency and other areas.
In his statement issued here, Khursheed said the administration must take all necessary steps and remain fully prepared to deal with the winter challenges. He called for ensuring the availability of food items, and sufficient stocks of gas, fuel, and other critical supplies during the winter.
Sheikh Khursheed said, “As the winter approaches, the power department resorts to unscheduled and frequent power cuts leaving the residents in darkness. The administration must focus on minimizing unscheduled power cuts and ensuring a continuous water supply during winter.”
MLA Langate urged the administration to take all advanced measures to remain prepared to fight any eventuality in remote areas, like Machil, Keran, Gurez and Tangdar during the harsh winter. Timely snow clearance of roads is essential for maintaining connectivity and preventing disruptions to daily life, he added.
During this meeting with Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, MLA Khursheed highlighted various public issues including the demand for a reasonable and timely disbursement of compensation for Baramulla Kupwara Highway land acquisition cases. He discussed rate revision for land acquisition, especially in Braripora Handwara.
Khursheed also discussed rent to local Panchayats from firms, agencies and contractors for land leases. He urged the Div Com to take the matter related to Reshwari Bangus road on priority.
