Srinagar, Jan 11: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Habba Kadal, Shameema Firdous on Saturday reiterated her commitment to addressing the longstanding issues of the people, particularly the youth.
Speaking to the media persons here, she said the people’s problems have persisted for the past 10-12 years, but efforts are being made to resolve them.
Firdous highlighted the need for a proper sports facility in the constituency, saying, “A 15-acre stadium, previously held by the army, remains unused. The youth have repeatedly approached us, requesting a stadium. We have the land available, and the concerned department is already working on it. We are hopeful that we will provide them with a stadium and a community hall soon.. Paperwork is being processed to facilitate the project.”
Addressing the issue of unemployment, the MLA expressed concern over the lack of job opportunities for local youth. “For the past 14 years, our youth have remained jobless while outsiders from Jharkhand and other states find work here. We have already raised this issue with the Chief Minister,” she said.
Firdous shared the struggles of highly qualified individuals in the region. “M.Tech, B.Tech, and Ph.D. scholars are approaching me for jobs, but there are none. One Ph.D. holder told me he is driving an auto to earn a livelihood. This is a serious issue for Kashmir,” she remarked, urging the Chief Minister to take necessary steps.
She assured the people that efforts are being made to secure their rights and provide justice to the youth. “We will not stop until our youth get the opportunities they deserve,” she concluded. (KNS)
