Baramulla, Nov 28: The Medical Education Unit (MEU) GMC Baramulla conducted a three days Basic Course in Medical Education (BCME) as a part of the Faculty Development Program as mandated by NMC. In this workshop a total of 30 faculty members and Senior Residents from GMC Doda and GMC Baramulla participated. The workshop was inaugurated by Principal GMC Baramulla Prof (Dr) Ruby Reshi. The workshop was coordinated by Dr Vinay Sharma, Prof. Department of Anatomy, Muzaffarnagar Medical College. He was appointed by NMC as BCME Coordinator. The 3 day workshop included a number of interactive sessions on New CBME, innovative Teaching Learning Methods as well as New Assessment Methods in Medical Education.
The resource faculty were the members of MEU GMC Baramulla who have been trained from Regional Centre HIMS Dehradun.
Speaking about the workshop, Dr Tajamul Hussain, MEU Coordinator GMC Baramulla said that “the BCME workshop is mandatory for all faculty members as per New NMC guidelines and also a prerequisite for faculty promotions. Earlier the faculty had to go outside the state to attend these workshops but now that all MEU members of GMC Baramulla have been trained from the Regional Centre,the NMC has given permission to conduct In House BCME for other faculty.”
He further thanked Principal GMC Baramulla and the college administration for all the support to conduct this workshop.
It is pertinent to mention here that 3 of the faculty members of GMC Baramulla have also done Advanced Course in Medical Education (ACME) from CMC Ludhiana and GMC Baramulla is the first among the new medical colleges of J&K to conduct In House BCME workshop.
