Jammu, Feb 1: In a remarkable healthcare outreach effort, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME) and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Super-speciality Hospital (SMVDNSH), in partnership with the Praja Parishad Memorial Trust, Saturday organised a Mega Health Camp at Jourian to mark Shaheedi Diwas that evoked huge response.
The event aimed to extend specialised healthcare services to underserved communities, particularly those in remote and border areas, ensuring they received access to expert medical consultations and essential diagnostic services. The camp attracted a strong turnout, serving over 1,700 patients who received free consultations across a wide range of specialties, including orthopaedics, internal medicine, dermatology, gynaecology, general surgery, ENT, ophthalmology, dental, and paediatrics. Senior consultants from both SMVDIME and SMVDNSH provided invaluable medical guidance, addressing various health concerns and recommending appropriate treatments.
In addition to consultations, the camp facilitated comprehensive diagnostic services, including over 400 laboratory tests, 105 X-rays and 200+ ECGs besides mammograms for early breast cancer screening. Furthermore, the initiative provided thousands of free medicines to ensure immediate relief and treatment for those in need. Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Executive Director of SMVDIME, expressed his satisfaction with the camp’s success, stating: “This health camp reflects our unwavering commitment to preventive and accessible healthcare. The overwhelming participation underscores the urgent need for continued outreach programs, and we remain dedicated to expanding our services to more such regions in the future.” Through this initiative, SMVDIME and SMVDNSH have reinforced their commitment to community health, taking high-quality medical care beyond hospital walls and living up to the Shree Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board’s vision of serving the community through specialized outreach efforts.
