Srinagar, Feb 24: A month after expressing his desire to meet an armless cricketer from Anantnag, India’s cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar finally met the inspiring para-cricketer, who has become a symbol of determination and courage, inspiring countless individuals including renowned personalities across the nation.
On Saturday, Sachin Tendulkar shared a video lasting 3 minutes and 48 seconds across his social media platforms, capturing his meeting with the para-cricketer. In a heartfelt message, Tendulkar wrote, “To Amir, the real hero. Keep inspiring! It was a pleasure meeting you (Amir).”
Amir Hussain, the para-cricketer, shared his excitement with Rising Kashmir, recounting the journey to the long-awaited meeting. Initially uncertain when the meeting would materialize after receiving a call from Sachin expressing his wish to meet, Amir was taken by surprise when the encounter occurred just a month later. He expressed disbelief that Sachin would visit Kashmir and meet him in his own homeland.
The day before the meeting, Amir received another call with details to come and meet Sachin. Describing the encounter as “lovely,” Amir expressed his disappointment at Sachin’s inability to visit their village, a sentiment echoed by fellow villagers. However, Sachin’s gesture of gifting two autographed bats, with one intended for the village, brought immense joy.
Sachin encouraged them to continue playing and enjoying the game, spreading happiness among villagers. The meeting concluded with expressions of gratitude and happiness from both parties, marking a memorable moment in their lives.
