Jammu, Apr 20: Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party President Ravinder Raina on Saturday exuded confidence that the “massive turnout” in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections for the Udhampur-Doda is a “clear indication” that the party will not only win this constituency but also the Jammu-Reasi Lok Sabha seat which will go to polls on April 26.
“The massive turnout in yesterday’s polling for Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat shows that people are coming out in large numbers to support BJP,” Raina said while addressing a press conference at party headquarters here.
He said the people would also come out in large numbers for polling of the Jammu-Reasi seat to ensure the victory of the BJP candidate. He also thanked people for the “massive turnout” and “supporting the BJP”.
“The people in all districts voted in large numbers despite bad weather on the poll day. Such massive poling in the harsh weather proves the commitment of the people, who polled more than 70 percent votes.
Mentioning all the far-flung areas, Raina said the people from all these areas showed enthusiastic participation in the polling. “People have voted massively in favour of BJP,” he said, adding that the party activists have dedicatedly worked and left no stone unturned for mobilising support for the BJP.
The BJP is set to win the Jammu-Reasi seat with a big margin, he added.
Former deputy chief minister Kavinder Gupta, former minister Sat Sharma, former MLA, Balwant Singh Mankotia and office secretary Tilak Raj Gupta were also present during the press conference.
Raina further said the BJP has gained a massive organisational base in Jammu as well as in Kashmir with all the development initiatives by the Modi government. The party has a major political presence in the other parliamentary constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, he said.
