A massive forest fire broke out in the Panaar area of Dachigam National Park on Friday afternoon, prompting a swift response from the authorities. Upon receiving information, a joint operation led by Forest Range Officer Fida Ur Rehman was launched to contain the fire.
Three teams from the Wildlife Protection Force and one team from the Forest Protection Force were immediately dispatched to the site. After 2-3 hours of intense firefighting, officials successfully brought the blaze under control.
Fortunately, there has been no reported loss of wildlife or trees, according to officials. The cause of the fire is yet to be investigated. Authorities have assured that further assessments will be conducted to determine the origin of the fire and to implement preventive measures.
Dachigam National Park, known for its rich biodiversity, including the endangered Hangul deer, remains a critical ecological zone. Prompt action by the forest officials helped avert any major damage, ensuring the safety of the park’s wildlife and habitat.
