Akhnoor, Sept 10: BJP candidate Mohan Lal Bhagat filed his nomination for the Akhnoor Assembly seat amidst an overwhelming gathering of supporters. The nomination procession began from the BJP office, passing through Akhnoor market and concluding at Rama Palace, with thousands of BJP supporters enthusiastically participating, celebrating with drum beats and dancing.
Prominent BJP leaders graced the occasion, including Jammu and Kashmir election in-charge and Union Minister G.K. Krishna Reddy, senior leader Sham Lal Sharma, spiritual leader Mahant Rameshwar Das, former Chairman of Kissan Board Daljit Chib, scheduled caste morcha in-charge Jagdish Bhagat, Pravasi Election in-charge MLA Lala Ram Bairwa, Akhnoor Assembly In-charge Suraj Singh, Convenor Sobha Ram Sharma, District Working President Manmohan Singh, DDC Member Sharda Bhau, DDC Member Bhushan Bral and Hundreds of party workers/supporters also expressed their strong support.
Addressing the gathering, Union Minister G.K. Krishna Reddy reiterated the 25 promises made by the BJP and launched a scathing attack on the Congress-National Conference (NC) alliance, labeling it an “unholy alliance” driven by political gain rather than the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He criticized Congress for perpetuating a negative image of the region and emphasized that under the reign of two political families, Jammu and Kashmir had seen only hatred and terrorism. He lauded the abrogation of Article 370, stating that it had brought an end to stone-pelting and was marking the final phase of terrorism in the region.
He appealed to the voters of Akhnoor to vote for the BJP candidate and expressed his confidence that Akhnoor would deliver the largest victory margin in all of Jammu and Kashmir.
