Jammu , Apr 27 : Calling the recent Pahalgam terror attack a “cowardly conspiracy” against India’s growing peace and prosperity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his monthly ‘Mann Ki Baat’, said the attack has “left the entire nation seething with rage.”
The Prime minister said that this was not merely an act of terror in Jammu and Kashmir, but a direct strike on India’s progress, unity, and democracy. “The blood of every Indian is boiling,” the Prime Minister said, vowing the “harshest response” against the perpetrators and masterminds.
“Today as I speak to you in ‘Mann Ki Baat’, there is a deep anguish in my heart. The terrorist incident that took place in Pahalgam on the April 22 has hurt every citizen of the country,” said the Prime Minister.
In the 121st episode of Mann Ki Baat, the Prime minister emphasised the unity and solidarity of the nation in the face of terror: “No matter which state one belongs to, no matter which language one speaks, one is feeling the pain of those who have lost their loved ones in this attack. I can feel that the blood of every Indian is on the boil after seeing the pictures of the terrorist attack.”
Describing the attack as a desperate act by those seeking to destabilise the ongoing peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir, Modi added, “This attack in Pahalgam shows the desperation of the patrons of terrorism; displays their cowardice… at a time when peace was returning to Kashmir… the enemies of Jammu and Kashmir did not like that.”
He reaffirmed India’s resolve in fighting terrorism, stating, “In this war against terrorism, the unity of the country, the solidarity of 140 crore Indians, is our biggest strength. This unity is the basis of our decisive fight against terrorism.”
Global condemnation of the attack poured in, with PM Modi sharing, “Global leaders have called me up as well; written letters and sent messages too. Everyone has strongly condemned this heinous terrorist attack. They have expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.”
Assuring justice, he said: “I once again assure the affected families that they will get justice, and justice will be done. The perpetrators and conspirators of this attack will be served with the harshest response.”
The April 22 attack in Pahalgam that took the lives of 26 people is one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in the valley since the 2019 Pulwama strike in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed.
