JAMMU, Oct 01: In a significant breakthrough, the Ramban Police have claimed to have busted a major narco-terror module by apprehending two persons and seizing a staggering 30 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated international black market value of ₹300 crores, informed ADGP-Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh.
The operation, conducted last night around 22:35 Hrs, was initiated based on specific intelligence inputs and led by SSP Ramban, Mohita Sharma, and her dedicated team who intercepted an Innova vehicle at Railway Chowk Banihal. The vehicle, en route from Kashmir to Jammu, was found to be transporting the illicit contraband.
Upon thorough inspection, the officers recovered approximately 30 kilograms of cocaine, which carries an estimated value of ₹300 crores in the international black market. As a result, two individuals were taken into custody without delay.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Banihal Police Station, and a comprehensive investigation is currently underway.
The entire operation was launched on the basis of intelligence generated by SSP Ramban and her team who have been continuously waging war against drug smugglers and peddlers.
Pertinent to mention, in 2022 alone, a total of 104 cases were registered, with the seizure of 2500 kilograms of poppy straw, 30 kilograms of cocaine, 10 kilograms of charas, 200 grams of heroin, and 200 tablets. This resulted in the arrest of 158 suspects, with an additional 3 persons detained under the Prevention of Illicit Trafficking (PIT) provisions of the NDPS Act.
