Anantnag, Oct 18: In an ambitious move to transform agriculture sector, Anantnag’s “Main Bhi Kisan” initiative is creating a significant impact. It aims to instill a spirit of agricultural entrepreneurship in students, propelling them towards earlier empowerment and development.
The program, a collaborative effort between the District administration and the agriculture department, has caught the attention of LG Manoj Sinha, who applauded the effort during his recent visit. Sinha’s endorsement has led to a call for other districts to emulate this unique endeavor, with expectations of a positive impact on the agricultural sector.
LG expressed his admiration and directed other districts to adopt Anantnag’s pioneering “Main Bhi Kisan” initiative, aiming to maximize the benefits of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP). Sinha believes that this initiative will lead to increased youth involvement in advancing agriculture and allied sectors, making a significant positive impact in the field.
So, what exactly is this initiative? According to the Agriculture Department, Anantnag, the campaign was launched in May from the Krad area of the district. Its primary goal is to educate school children about the vital role of agriculture in conjunction with environmental preservation, ensuring food security, and safeguarding natural resources for future generations.
Aijaz Hussain Dar, Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO), highlighted that the objective is to give students practical exposure to various aspects of agriculture that they might not be familiar with. Throughout the campaign, students will visit different agricultural fields to learn about both traditional and modern farming techniques. Experts from the agriculture and school education departments will offer hands-on training in various forms of agriculture, including horticulture, pisciculture, silviculture, apiculture, and agro-based industries. Additionally, this campaign provides an opportunity for students to engage with progressive farmers from the district.
“This initiative will also foster a sense of agricultural entrepreneurship in students, as the agriculture sector offers significant potential for generating employment opportunities,” he added.
“Main Bhi Kisan” initiative, praised for its innovative approach to agricultural development, is set to serve as a model for districts looking to optimize the potential of the HADP. With its focus on encouraging youth participation, the initiative is poised to play a pivotal role in propelling the agriculture sector towards sustainable growth.
