Leh, July 30: Two Army personnel, including a Lieutenant Colonel, lost their lives and two others were injured after a boulder fell on an Army vehicle in eastern Ladakh on Wednesday, officials said. The incident took place around 11:30 am at Charbagh near Durbuk in the Galwan region, roughly 200 km from Leh. The vehicle was part of a military convoy moving through the remote area when the accident occurred.
The Army identified the deceased as Lt Colonel BhanuPratap Singh Mankotia and Lance DafadarDaljit Singh of the 14 Sindh Horse regiment.
Two other personnel sustained injuries and are currently undergoing medical treatment, officials said. Recovery and clearance operations are underway.
In a solemn ceremony, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Fire and Fury Corps, along with other ranks, paid tribute to the fallen soldiers. The Indian Army lauded their “supreme sacrifice“, recognising their courage and dedication while serving in the challenging terrain of Ladakh.
