Srinagar May 11: In a bid to enhance voters participation in the  Lok Sabha Elections 2024, a mass voter awareness program (Jashn-e-Intikhab) was organized under  Systematic Voters’ Education and Education Programme (SVEEP)  at picturesque Chashma Shahi Garden here on Saturday.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), P K Pole was the chief guest on the occasion while the District Election Officer (DEO) Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud- Din Bhat  joined the event as guest of honour.

Addressing the gathering, the CEO appreciated the organisers for organising this  awareness campaign under SVEEP. He hoped that a large number of people will participate in the voting process in 2-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency on May 13, 2024 for Lok Sabha Elections-2024 and mark their duty to determine the country’s democracy.

DEO Srinagar in an address urged the students to carry forward the message regarding democratic rights to their parents, relatives and community underscoring  significance of their participation in nation-building through elections. He said that  well-informed electorate is fundamental in ensuring a vibrant and representative democracy

During the programme,  students of Kashmir University and Artists of Tulkul Arts  presented Nukkad Natak based on  voters’ awareness while the Sufi brothers presented Qawali,  filling the whole atmosphere with their mesmerising voices.

On this occasion, a mock polling station was set up by NIIT Srinagar students while the students associated with the Music and Fine Art department of Kashmir University created pictures regarding the duty of voting through canvas painting.

Later, the chief guest distributed the certificates among the participants and closed the SVEEP campaign for Srinagar by releasing the tricolor balloons in air.
