Licences of 4 FPS dealers suspended, 2 employees attached in Pulwama

Pulwama, Dec 08: Authorities of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs( FCS&CA) department have suspended licence of four Fair Price Shop (FPS) dealers and attached two supervisory officials after an inspection team found shortages and discrepancies in the distribution of food grains in different zones of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The shortages/discrepancies came to fore after office of Assistant Director(AD) FCS&CA Pulwama constituted teams for physical verification of different Sale Centres and Fair Price Shops ( FPS) in Pampore, Khrew, Kakapora and Pulwama zones of the district.
The physical verification were carried for distribution month of November 2022 extended till 4th of December 2022.
Talking to Rising Kashmir, AD FCS &CA Pulwama, Inayatullah, said that on inspecting receipts, online record of food grains distributed and physical balance in the stores they found discrepancies and shortages at many FPS and Sale Centres.
“ Action in terms of suspension of Licence and recovery at penal rate to the tune of around rupees 20 lakh has been taken against the erring persons,” he said, adding that two TSO’s ( Tehsil Supply Officer) have been attached and served a show cause notice to explain their position within two days.
“Once they submit their reply further action will be taken accordingly,” he said.
Director FCS & CA Kashmir, Dr Abdul Salam Mir said that those found guilty will be taken to task.
He also said that besides attachment the department will go for recovery of the ‘embezzled’ amount from the erring.
Officials said that for substantial shortage of food grains licence of FPS Meej, FPS Shaar Shaali D, FPS Samboora B and FSP Banderpora have been suspended while monthly quota (of ration) has been diverted to the nearest sale centres for evident shortage at FPS Mandakpal, FPS Shaar Shali C , FPS
Gundbal, FPS Frestabal, FPS Befina, FPS Khanday Mohalla B and FPS Drangbal.
They further added that quantity of food grains found short has been debited against concerned storekeepers of sale centres and dealers of FPS’.
