Srinagar, Sep 15:  In a significant initiative to promote Ayurveda, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated a three-day Ayurveda Parv organized by the Akhil Bhartiya Ayurveda Mahasammelan Trust, Ministry of AYUSH, and Directorate of AYUSH-Jammu & Kashmir at Dental College Srinagar.
In his inaugural address, Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha commended the efforts to promote the holistic principles and best practices of Ayurveda in Jammu & Kashmir and across the country. He emphasized that this event would serve to sensitize the public to the strength and potential of Ayurveda for healthy living, extending its benefits to society.
“Ayurveda has gained global popularity, and today the entire world is adopting Ayurveda techniques to meet the changing healthcare needs of people, promoting well-being of the body, mind, and spirit, and managing various diseases,” stated the Lt. Governor.
He called upon Ayurveda stakeholders and policymakers to collaborate in popularizing this traditional medicine system as the primary mode of treatment for lifestyle diseases, preventive care, and enhancing the immune system.
“I am hopeful this platform of Ayurveda Parv will also draw a roadmap to further strengthen the health architecture of Jammu & Kashmir and provide valuable suggestions for a more resilient, equitable, sustainable, and inclusive health system for the well-being of all our citizens,” added Lt. Governor Sinha.
During the inaugural session, the Lt. Governor shared key government initiatives aimed at promoting preventive and holistic care in Jammu & Kashmir. He highlighted the establishment of the Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital in Akhnoor, Unani Medical College and Hospital in Ganderbal, AYUSH Health and Wellness Centers across J&K, the upcoming Homeopathic College and Hospital in Kathua, and integrated AYUSH hospitals in various districts, all of which underscore the government’s commitment to strengthening traditional medicine infrastructure in the Union Territory.
Lt. Governor Sinha requested the Union Ministry of AYUSH to consider establishing an Ayurvedic College and Hospital in Kashmir. He also urged the expeditious process for upgrading 115 AYUSH dispensaries and the release of funds for the Institute of High Altitude in Bhaderwah.
