Srinagar, Mar 30: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has figured among the The Indian Express 100 most powerful Indians in 2023.
LG Sinha is ranked number 24 on the list of the top 100 most powerful Indians, according to the Indian Express.
LG Sinha has not only managed to help the UT grow but has also brought the common man closer to the system.
He was appointed as the second Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir on August 6, 2020, and will complete his three-year tenure this year.
LG Sinha, also known as ‘Vikas Purush’ (development leader), is a three-term Lok Sabha Member from Uttar Pradesh and an experienced politician.
He was elected as MP for the first time in 1996, then again in 1999 and 2014. During his third term, he was appointed Minister of State for Railways in 2014, and in 2016, he was appointed Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Communication.
The robust grievance redressal system in the Union Territory has brought the common man closer to the system. LG Sinha himself listens to the grievances of people. Programmes like Awam-Ki-Awaz, LG Mulaqat have become instant hits among the people.
Sinha was optimistic right from the start in JK and successfully held DCC elections in Jammu and Kashmir for the first time in order to strengthen grass-root democracy.
Following COVID19 in 2021, the Sinha-led administration formed a five-member Crisis Management Group (CMG) to monitor the situation in the Union Territory and take appropriate preventative and mitigating actions.
Around two crore doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered during the nationwide Covid immunisation campaign thanks to the LG-led government.
In order to complete this monumental effort, the JK’s Health department led from the front and overcame many obstacles such as challenging geographic terrain, unpredictable weather etc.
UT was the first state in the nation to launch a door-to-door immunisation programme in the challenging environment.
Even during COVID 19, Jammu and Kashmir was one of four states with an economy that was performing better than the national average.
J&K got investment proposals of Rs 3,325 crore during the COVID19 period in the health-care and medical education sectors.
LG Sinha secured Naya J&K’s dream, under which the investment ecosystem has changed dramatically since the repeal of Article 370, and thousands of aspiring entrepreneurs are establishing their own businesses and emerging as role models.
He is the pioneer behind the new industrial policy, that has brought investments in the region. The golden time of industrial growth of Jammu and Kashmir has been ushered in under the new Industrial Development Policy of the Prime Minister.
Under the LG government, Jammu and Kashmir is poised to become the country’s top investment destination, as it rushes to complete different infrastructure projects and reaches out to global and local investors through a series of conferences and industrial summits.
Private investors from both within and outside the country are rushing to invest in Jammu & Kashmir. Many builders have also shown an interest in investing here at a Real Estate Summit.
The J&K government has also received scores of bids for health care initiatives in the state’s two medi- cities. Among these are Dubai-based companies such as EMAAR Group, Noon.com, Al Maya Group, GL Employment, MATU Investments, and others.
UT just got the first tranche of Rs 500 crore in foreign direct investment (FDI). Emaar Group, the developer of the Burj Khalifa, announced its arrival into J&K with the announcement of a retail mall and two IT Towers.
The project includes a 10-lakh-square-foot mega-mall called “Mall of Srinagar,” as well as an IT tower in Sempora on the outskirts of Srinagar and another in Jammu.
The UT administration is bridging three decades of stagnation. Jammu and Kashmir has never been explored to its full potential and the changes are now visible on the ground with the dedication and commitment of present LG led Administration.
Following the implementation of the new Jammu and Kashmir Film Policy in 2021, the Union Territory has been emerging as a preferred shooting location for the film industry and more than 150 films and web series have been shot in the UT in less than 2 years.
Under the Aapki Zameen Aapki Nigrani’ under the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP), the land records were digitised and andowners i got digital passbook of their revenue records in three languages.
The two popular programs that were launched by LG administration to bridge the gap between government and people include Back to Village and My Town My Program .
Both programs were intended to bridge the communication gap between the government and the common masses. The administration shows up to the doorsteps of the common people to listen to their complaints and provide immediate solutions.
Recently, a sizeable portion of state land was retrieved from J&K’s powerful and prominent citizens.
