Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has been figured among top most 100 powerful Indians, the list of which was released by the leading national daily Indian Express on Thursday.

As reported by the Indian Express, LG Sinha secured the 23rd position in the list for the year 2024, marking a notable climb of 5 ranks from the previous year, 2023.

It is noted that LG Sinha has been leading Jammu & Kashmir for more than three years. In the past year, he has significantly increased public engagement, often addressing multiple events in a single day.

Dealing with targeted killings, protests by Kashmiri Pandits, and challenges faced by the Gujjar/Bakerwal communities has been a crucial aspect of his role, especially in the absence of elected leaders in Jammu and Kashmir.

Under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi, he has been spearheading the infrastructure development in the region. His successful hosting of the G20 tourism group meeting in Srinagar adds another commendable achievement to his leadership.

“Sinha has been focused on effective administration during his tenure. His fortnightly feature, the “L-G Mulaqat”, is a hit. The entire administration meets via video-conferencing and complaints submitted via the LG’s grievance cell are taken up for resolution,” it said.

He joined as the second LG in Jammu and Kashmir on Aug 06 2020 and will complete his three years this year.

LG Sinha is also known as ‘Vikas Purush’ (leader involved in development). He is a three-time Lok Sabha MP and a seasoned Politician from Uttar Pradesh.

He became MP for the first time in 1996 and then in 1999 and 2014. During his third term in 2014, he was appointed as the Minister of State for Railways and in 2016 served as the Union Minister of State(Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Communication.

Right from his beginning in JK, Sinha was optimistic and conducted DCC elections for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir in a peaceful manner to strengthen grassroots democracy.
