Srinagar, July 23: Chairperson of Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi on Tuesday chaired a crucial meeting to assess and enhance development initiatives in the tribal area of Gurez in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
The meeting, attended by heads of various departments and designated representatives from key offices, aimed to review progress on development projects and implementation of centrally sponsored schemes. Former legislator Faqir Mohammad Khan and DDC representative Aijaz Khan were also present, adding valuable insights to the discussions.
Dr Andrabi sought updates on ongoing developmental works and evaluated the adequacy of facilities provided to the local population. The meeting also focused on the effective implementation of Centrally sponsored schemes and welfare programs initiated by the central government and UT administration.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Darakhshan stressed the importance of accessible government services, saying that residents should not encounter difficulties when approaching government offices for issue resolution. She underscored the transformative impact of central tribal welfare laws and programs, saying it is the collective responsibility to ensure every eligible individual benefits equitably.
“As envisioned by the Prime Minister, it is imperative to extend welfare systems to the doorsteps of every citizen,” Andrabi said. She acknowledged the LG administration’s prioritisation of tribal welfare in Jammu & Kashmir.
Given the region’s challenging geography, she urged government servants to uphold punctuality and dedication in their service to the border valley’s inhabitants. “The holistic, environmentally-friendly development of these areas is a shared responsibility,” Andrabi said. “We must rededicate ourselves to improving the lives of these peace-loving and hardworking people, ensuring ease of living for all.”
