Jammu, Nov 3: Drugs & Food Control Organisation, Jammu in collaboration with Chemist Association, R S Pura today sponsored the second day of the Legends Cricket tournament at Satriyan, Suchetgarh in this border village.
Mohd Iqbal Palla, Deputy Drugs Controller, Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion. The tournament is being organized by locals and youth of Satriyan, R S Pura.
The match was played between Team Game Changer Jammu and Akhnoor Warriors. Team Game Changer won the toss, elected to bat first, and scored 143 runs by losing 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Chasing the target, Akhnoor Warriors could make only 88 runs in 20 overs. Jivesh Kumar was declared Man of the Match for picking three crucial wickets.
Deputy Drugs Controller, Jammu on the occasion said the event was organized in continuation to the Nasha Mukat Bharat Abhiyaan which aims to reach out to the masses and spread awareness about substance and drug abuses. He stressed upon the participants to inculcate the values of true sportsmanship and keep themselves away from drugs, unhealthy things, and anti-social activities.
“Sports activities relieve boredom and promote socialization to develop social skills and right activities,” Palla said, adding that participating in the game is more important than winning or losing.
He administered a pledge to youth to work against drug abuse and stop people from falling prey to this menace. The officer stressed upon the players to channelize their energy into making greater strides in their studies and sports.
