Srinagar, Oct 24: Jammu and Kashmir Super Seven’s Cricket Association was launched on Monday in Hotel Pride Inn Rajbagh Srinagar.
General Body members of the Association were also announced on the occasion.
Briefing to media persons on the occasion, General Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Super Sevens Cricket Association, Amir Surma, said the Super Seven’s Association has been running across the country and in J&K it is being formally launched here Monday.
“It is an Association which is affiliated with Super Seven’s Federation of India (SSFI) and is registered with School Games Federation of India (SGFI).
“As its name suggests, it is a short format cricket game. A seven over game played by seven players and provides the best entertainment,” he said.
He added that the Association will provide a platform to those who were ignored earlier. “We want to promote local talent so that more local players connect to the association and the focus must be on young and school going children,” he added.
He further stated the Association is going to form district level bodies in the coming week and trial matches shall be conducted before the participation in Super seven’s national cricket tournament to be held in U.P. on November 10.
“This will be J&K’s first super seven’s cricket team and players from every district will be part of it,” he said.
Top 22 teams across India are taking part in this national tournament.
The meeting was attended by the newly formed Association members which included Mohammad Arif Surma as president, Mohammad Sufiyan as Treasurer , Amir Surma as General Secretary and other members senior vice president, vice president etc.
