Srinagar, Nov 07: Vehicular traffic movement on Srinagar Jammu National Highway (NH) remained disrupted for several hours on Monday due to landslides and shooting stones at several locations along the highway, officials said.
A senior traffic police official told Rising Kashmir that landslides and shooting stones disrupted traffic for several hours at Panthyal in Ramban, Mehar areas along the highway.
“The debris was cleared by the administration and traffic was restored on both sides of the highway,” he said.
As per the traffic advisory issued by Traffic Department Kashmir subject to fair weather and road clearance, light motor vehicles (LMV) passenger and private cars shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar and vice-versa on Tuesday.
People were advised to undertake a journey on NHW-44 (Jammu-Srinagar national highway) only after confirming the status of the road from traffic control units (TCU).
“TCU Jammu and Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic. No vehicle shall be allowed to move before and after cut-off timings,” it said.
Later, heavy motor vehicles (HMV) shall be allowed from Jakhani (Udhampur) towards Srinagar after assessing the road and traffic situation on NH-44. TCU Udhampur shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the HMVs, it said.
Srinagar-Kargil and Mughal roads have been closed due to snow accumulation along the highway.
