Udhampur, Apr 02: Ch Lal Singh, a two-time former Member of Parliament and three-time cabinet minister, and Congress candidate for the Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency, on Tuesday criticised the present regime for what he termed as “step-motherly treatment” towards local employees.
“There is a blatant nepotism where only favourites are being awarded lucrative positions at the expense of local talent,” he said, adding that strategic positions are being occupied by outsiders, leaving local employees feeling sidelined.
Singh conducted a series of meetings at Jagnoo, Ritti, Kuh Nalah, Kaghote, and Ramnagar, where he addressed the gathered crowds. During his speeches at various locations, he accused the government of being in a financial mess and failing to provide due arrears to employees, particularly those in the higher education department.
He expressed disappointment with the government’s indifference towards the concerns of daily wage earners, SPOS, and NYCs (National Youth Corps), promising to address these issues in parliament if elected.
Lambasting the BJP-led government, Singh criticized its failure to control inflation and unemployment, stating that the government has let down every segment of society. Former Minister Sh. Harsh Dev Singh, who also addressed the gatherings, echoed Singh’s sentiments, lamenting the lack of vision and plans to create new jobs during the BJP’s tenure, which has left the local youth disheartened.
The meetings witnessed a significant turnout, with attendees expressing support for Ch Lal Singh and the Congress party’s promises to address the pressing issues facing the constituency. Singh’s speeches resonated with the concerns of the local populace, setting the stage for a competitive electoral battle in the Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency.
