Srinagar, Dec 13: Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal on Wednesday denounced what he termed as “Nehruvian blunders” and highlighted territorial losses in the past.
In his address to the Lok Sabha, Namgyal, the BJP MP, specifically pointed to regions like PoK, Shaksgam Valley, Aksai Chin, Minsar village near Mount Kailas, and the sacred Mansarovar Lake.
Highlighting the significance of the Tingmosgang Treaty of 1684, the MP underscored its recognition of Minsar village as part of Ladakh, now officially documented in the 1961 Indian Census.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the people of Kargil and Ladakh’s Muslim community, Namgyal thanked the Modi Government for its support of the Tazia of Mohram and the Ladakh Hajj Committee.
MP Namgyal advocated for the opening of the Panikhar-Pehlgam Road, addressing a long-standing demand from the people of Kargil. He urged for amendments to the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Act, seeking increased autonomy in legislative matters related to land, jobs, culture, and language.
Tsering concluded his address with a call for collective efforts towards a more inclusive and prosperous future for Ladakh.
