New Delhi, July 29: A delegation headed by BJP Ladakh State President, Phunchok Stanzin called on Union Home Minister, Amit Shah in New Delhi on Monday.
Stanzin was accompanied by the Chairman, CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, Former Member of Parliament Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, BJP District President Zanskar, Stanzin Lakpa, BJP District President Nubra, Stanzin Delik, and BJP District President Kargil, Mohd Ali Chandan.
The delegation presented a series of demands crucial to the development and welfare of Ladakh.
Among the primary issues discussed were the need for safeguarding Ladakh’s unique cultural and social fabric, enhancing employment opportunities through reservations, and the early notification of vacancies for gazetted posts in Ladakh. Strengthening the LAHDCs (Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils) and the creation of new districts were also highlighted as pressing needs.
Further, the delegation sought the inclusion of the Bhoti language in the 8th schedule of the Indian Constitution, the establishment of a new battalion of Ladakh Scouts, and the rationalization of wildlife boundaries in the region.
They also raised concerns over inter-state border issues, particularly at Sarchu, Shinkunla, and Zojila, and issues related to air services for civilian passengers in Kargil and Nubra.
Home Minister listened attentively to the delegation’s concerns and assured them of the union government’s commitment to addressing the various issues raised.
He emphasized that necessary actions would be taken to ensure the continued development and welfare of Ladakh.
