Kargil, Aug 05: The Union Territory of Ladakh has issued a notification for the 5th General Council elections for Ladakh Àutonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil.
According to an order issued by Administrative Secretary, Election Department, Ladakh, Yetindra M Maralkar, the Ladakh administration has decided to conduct the 5th General Election of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil, to constitute a new council in accordance with the provisions of the LAHDC Act, 1997, and the rules made there under.
The 4th General Election of LAHDC, Kargil, was held on August 27, 2018, and the term of five years of the aforesaid council is expiring on October 01, 2023. The notification has called upon the constituencies to elect their members.
The date on which the poll shall, if necessary, be held on September 10, 2023, while the timing of the poll is 8 am to 4 pm. The date of counting is September 14, 2023, and the date before which the election shall be completed is September 20, 2023.
“The Model Code of Conduct shall come into force from the date of publication of this notification in the official e-gazette of UT Ladakh and shall remain in force till such time the election process is completed,” the order reads, adding, “The code of conduct shall be applicable for the entire Kargil district.”
