Udhampur, Aug 05: BJP spokesperson Ranbir Singh Pathania on Saturday said Article 370 has been a potent weapon in the hands of vested interests to block welfare and public-friendly legislation from coming into force in Jammu & Kashmir.
“Whatever suited the powers-that-be was all-welcome in J&K, and whatever suited the common man was opposed tooth and nail here,” Pathania said at an event organised here to celebrate the abrogation of Article 370.
“Clock cannot be put back,” the BJP spokesperson said. “People were all praise for the courage and conviction and political will of Modi Sarkar. This has spelled out a record number of investments in the industry sector. The tourist footfall increased. It is expected to cross the two crore mark this year. Similarly, militancy-related cases also decreased and also politics of separatism, and hatred dynasty has come to an end. People have come to breathe free.”
He said a 70 percent drop in terror activities has been witnessed and there are no separatist-sponsored calls for strikes, no stone-pelting, hartal calendars, or crackdowns. “Tourist footfall in 2022 touched an all-time high of 1.88 crores, 28,000 youngsters have been given government jobs in a transparent manner, 51,000 have been provided with self-employment opportunities and 70,000 others linked to the Mission Youth,” he said.
