Srinagar, Apr 30: National Conference president, Dr Farooq Abdullah, in honour of Labour Day (May Day), commended the determination of countless workers in organised and unorganised sectors. He commended the unwavering determination and hard work of the countless workers who contribute significantly to the development of the region.
In a statement issued here, Dr Abdullah asserted that the National Conference remains dedicated to advocating for the welfare of fixed-income groups and daily wage earners, including artisans.
Recognising the tireless efforts of workers in both the organised and unorganised sectors, he said, “It is important to remember the indigenous struggle of our own people at Zaldagar and the silk factory.”
The NC chief said, While the world celebrates May 1st as International Labour Day, the sacrifices made by our artisans in these local struggles are often overlooked. I take this moment to honour the martyrs of the Zaldagar massacre. It is crucial for our community to remember the sacrifices made by our artisans at Zaldagar and the Silk factory. These events served as a catalyst for the movement against the oppressive regime led by Sher-e Kashmir Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah.”
Dr Farooq added, “The Naya Kashmir document of our party upholds the fundamental principles of labour laws, including the right to work based on individual capacity.”
