KVK Samba organises training on weed management in Rabi crops

Samba, Dec 13: Krishi Vigyan Samba, under the leadership of Professor J.P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Jammu and under the direct supervision of Dr. S.K. Gupta today organized an in-service training program on “Weed management in Rabi crops” which was attended by thirteen officers from the Department of Agriculture, Samba.
The program started with a welcome address by Prof. Sanjay Khajuria, Chief Scientist &Head, in which he welcomed all the officers of the line department and gave a brief outline of the program in order to lower the menace of weeds. He discussed in detail the importance of weed management in Rabi crops and urged the officers to make a comprehensive program in the district in order to eradicate the congress grass as well as panjfulli. Dr. Jai Kumar, Senior Scientist Agronomy, ACRA Dhiansar spoke about the Integrated Weed Management strategy for Rabi crops and discussed in length and breadth about the judicious use of herbicides in weed management.
Dr. Amit Mahajan, Farm Manager, KVK Samba Coordinator of the program discussed in detail the different weed control methods in wheat, mustard and pulses. He emphasized the different herbicides which are eco-friendly and also extended a vote of thanks.
