Kulgam, Oct 2: Embracing a significant achievement, a youth from Kulgam has earned a place in the prestigious “Hall of Fame” for identifying potential security vulnerabilities in Apple. Apple Inc. has acknowledged the efforts of young Bhat Muneeb, in its monthly security acknowledgments list for alerting the company to potential security concerns.

Apple company’s website features a list of individuals who have reported potential threats to the company. These contributions are recognized in the monthly “Apple Web Server Security Acknowledgments,” which highlights the efforts of security researchers worldwide.

Muneeb’s name is prominently listed at the seventh spot in the list. The website reads, “Apple publishes this article to acknowledge and thank those who reported potential security issues in our web servers. Credit is added after the issue has been identified and addressed.”

Muneeb is currently enrolled in BCA through IGNOU and aims to achieve the highly respected Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) certification in the field of cybersecurity.
While pursuing a B.Tech degree at SSM College, Muneed developed a keen interest in cybersecurity.

Muneeb told Rising Kashmir that he contributed as a security researcher for Apple, reporting an issue that could have posed a significant threat from potential hackers.

“A few months ago, I uncovered and responsibly disclosed a vulnerability to Apple, which allowed me to assist in making their systems more secure. I’m proud to share that my name is now on their official website for security researchers,” he said.

He said, this achievement has been a dream come true for me. He has worked tirelessly for this moment, and it’s a testament to the power of hard work and dedication.

“Ethically hacking Apple and getting recognized by such a tech giant is a milestone I will cherish forever,” he said adding, “ I want to express my gratitude to Apple’s security team for their collaboration throughout this process. It’s an honour to have contributed to the safety of Apple’s users.”

He said that he has reported and ethically hacked a lot of other big companies, like Oracle, McDonald’s, USAA Bank, intel, and a lot of other public and private domains too.

“I have received hall of  fame from these domains and bounties in lakhs and some other rewards from these reputed companies,” he added.

Several other individuals who reported security concerns, either similar or different, have also received recognition from the company. Muneeb explained that companies typically address reported bugs by releasing updates that rectify the issues and enhance security.
