Srinagar, June 10: To develop critical engagement with the themes of education, literature, and culture, the Department of Hindi, University of Kashmir (KU), in collaboration with Sahitya Sanchay Shodh Samvad Foundation, New Delhi, organised a two-day International Seminar on the theme “Shiksha, Sahitya aur Sanskriti”, which concluded here at KU on Tuesday.
The inaugural session was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor KU, Prof. Nilofer Khan, who commended the Department of Hindi for organising meaningful academic and socially relevant programmes that draw student and scholarly participation.
“Literature and education are integral to nurturing culturally aware and socially responsible individuals. It is through such platforms that we strengthen our academic foundations and cultural roots,” Prof. Khan said in her address.
Dean, School of Arts, Languages and Literature KU, Prof. Aejaz Mohammed Sheikh, underscored the intrinsic connection between education, literature, and culture, and their role in shaping societal values.
Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Sahitya Sanchay Shodh Samvad Foundation, delivered the keynote speech, emphasising how education, literature and culture can foster inclusive development and critical thinking in modern society.
Renowned academician Prof. Rajesh Srivastava also addressed the gathering and encouraged academic institutions to continue playing a key role in preserving and promoting cultural heritage through scholarship.
Earlier, Prof. Rubi Zutshi, Head, Department of Hindi KU, delivered the welcome address, introducing the theme and appreciating the collaboration that made the event possible.
The session proceedings were conducted by Dr. Mudasir Ahmad Bhat and Dr. Shazia Bashir, faculty at Department of Hindi KU, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Suman Rani, Deputy Secretary, Sahitya Sanchay Shodh Samvad Foundation, New Delhi.
