Srinagar, Aug 06:
The Kousarnag Yatra is set to commence from August 7, with all necessary arrangements in place along the route from Reasi. The pilgrimage, which will be flagged off from the district headquarters, will run until August 11.
Vishesh Paul Mahajan Deputy Commissioner, Reasi told Rising Kashmir that all arrangements are already in place, and he has reviewed the Chhari Mubarak arrangements on Tuesday as well.
“Kousarnag is situated at a high altitude in Kulgam, bordering Reasi. The devotees take the journey from Reasi headquarters, passing through Salal, Arnas, Dharmari, Mahore, Sungari, and Chassana. They reach the lake, take a dip, perform their rituals, and return the same day,” he said.
“All stakeholders, line departments, and concerned agencies work in coordination to ensure smooth arrangements for the Yatra,” DC Mahajan said.
He said that the Yatra’s halt points have all the arrangements for clean toilets, drinking water, and stay facilities.
He said that all necessary security arrangements are in place, with health facilities, and a team of doctors and paramedics will be accompanying the Yatra. A Junior KAS Officer will also be with them. Security measures, including army, paramilitary, state police, and a mountain rescue team, are in place. “With the grace of God, I am confident the Yatra will proceed and conclude peacefully,” he added.
Umesh Singh Dogra, a resident of Reasi and a member of the local committee, stated that the Yatra holds significant religious importance, and people from the area have been participating for many years.
He said that he will also be going on the Yatra and that a small function is scheduled for Tuesday, with the Yatra starting on Wednesday. Umesh said that line departments have extended their support, and the Tourism Department also sent a team last year to document the journey.
A senior officer from Tourism department, told Rising Kashmir that the Department of Tourism, in collaboration with the District Administration, Reasi have invited all the devotees for the Kousarnag Yatra.
She said that the tourism department has been involved in the Yatra and has been documenting the pilgrimage all the way to Kousarnag and along the route.
Notably, last year, around 1,000 devotees performed the Yatra to Kousarnag.
