Jammu, Aug 19: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu & Kashmir has submitted a letter to the Government of India (GoI) proposing a special package for the cloudburst victims in the region, including Kishtwar and Kathua.Sources within the party said a high-level central team is expected to visit the cloudburst-affected areas of Kishtwar soon after the completion of relief and rescue operations to assess the extent of the losses.BJP President of J&K UT, Sat Sharma, told Rising Kashmir that the compensation announced by the Chief Minister from the CM’s relief fund is insufficient for the cloudburst victims, adding that the actual losses are much higher than the current aid.“We have sent a proposal to the GoI demanding a special package and adequate compensation for the cloud burst victims of J&K,” Sharma said.Sources further revealed that the central team is likely to visit J&K after the relief efforts in Kishtwar are finalised. The team will conduct a detailed on-ground assessment of damages across various affected areas and prepare a comprehensive report for the GoI.The GoI, after considering this report, is most likely to announce a special package for victims of J&K, sources said.
