Known for its tranquil ambiance and spectacular natural beauty, Bangladesh, a picturesque village situated on the banks of the breathtaking Wular Lake in the North Kashmir’s Bandipora district, a hidden paradise is becoming increasingly popular among tourists as a must-see destination.

The village, which came into existence in 1971, is attracting tourists with its natural beauty, local culture, and introduction of shikaras in the lake.

The village of Bangladesh was formed after a devastating fire incident in nearby Zurimanz village. The locals of Zurimanz, who lost their homes in the fire, took shelter in the nearby area, which eventually turned into the village of Bangladesh. The village got its name from the recently ended Bangladesh war, and the locals decided to name their new home after the newly formed country.

The locals, who hail from the fishermen community, are excited about the prospect of their village becoming a hotspot for tourists. The villagers believe that if the government provides better facilities and develops the village, more tourists will visit Bangladesh.

Visitors from various parts of India are flocking to the village to experience its breathtaking beauty, which they find truly awe-inspiring.

If the government provides better facilities and develops the village, it has the potential to attract more tourists, a group of non local tourists said While expressing amazement at the breathtaking views of the Bangladesh village.

To boost tourism at Wular Lake, the locals have created Shikaras and launched them into the lake to improve their means of sustenance and entice more visitors to the lake.

Ghulam Hassan who launched the first boat in the lake told Rising Kashmir that it took him several days to construct the boat with the goal of drawing more tourists to the area. Wular lake is a stunning natural wonder and encourages all nature lovers and tourists visiting Kashmir from different parts of India to experience its beauty.

Another local who also launched Shikara in the lake said, “We are proud of our village and its natural beauty. Our goal is to make Bangladesh a must-visit destination for tourists who come to this part of the world.”

The initiatives taken by the locals to enhance tourism in Wular Lake have garnered widespread recognition. The introduction of shikaras serves as a means to promote eco-tourism and encourage preservation of the lake’s ecosystem. The government’s pledge to endorse tourism in the area, coupled with their backing of the locals, has generated a sense of hope and positivity within the village.

Aditya Suhas, a renowned South Indian film director, recently chose Bangladesh village as a filming location for his upcoming movie based in Kashmir. The village’s stunning natural beauty, coupled with its unique cultural heritage, made it an ideal location for capturing the essence of Kashmir. While most of the filming took place in neighbouring Baramulla, some of the scenes were shot in Bangladesh, showcasing the village’s picturesque landscapes and cultural richness. The film crew’s decision to include Bangladesh in their project has brought recognition to the village and its potential as a prominent filming destination.

This was the first film ever shot in the village, and it brought a significant number of people from nearby areas, including women and children, to witness the process. The locals who worked with the film crew expressed their optimism about the potential for more movie productions in their village, which could provide more job opportunities for the community.

The conservation and management authority of Wular lake has also taken a unique step towards promoting tourism in the region by establishing a selfie gazebo site on the banks of Wular Lake in the picturesque Bangladesh village. The initiative has not only enhanced the natural beauty of the surroundings but also provides an excellent opportunity for visitors to capture their memories of the stunning views.

This selfie gazebo site has already received an overwhelming response from visitors who are appreciating the chance to take pictures against the stunning backdrop of the lake. The site is attracting a significant number of tourists, both locals and tourists, who come to experience the beauty of this natural wonder.

According to WUCMA officials, the selfie gazebo site was established to promote eco-tourism in the area and to raise awareness about the importance of preserving the natural habitat. The site has also been designed to ensure the safety of the visitors while they take their pictures.

The government is fully devoted to promoting tourism in Bangladesh village and will take all essential measures to enhance the infrastructure and amenities required to make it an appealing tourist spot. To guarantee that the local community’s interests are considered in all tourism-related activities, they will collaborate closely with them, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmed told Rising Kashmir.

The villagers are now looking to expand their tourism offerings by introducing homestays and other activities to attract more visitors to the area. With their strong sense of community and determination to succeed, it looks like Bangladesh will continue to grow and prosper as a popular tourist destination in the region.
