Kargil, Sept 11: The Union Territory of Ladakh is gearing up to host the 10th edition of the Zanskar Festival on September 20 and 21, with authorities expecting a footfall of nearly 10,000 visitors, including cultural groups, artists from various states, and tribal communities from across the region.
Officials said the two-day event will feature rafting expeditions, archery demonstrations, folk performances, departmental stalls, and exhibitions highlighting government schemes, making it one of the most vibrant cultural gatherings in Ladakh’s calendar.
Deputy Commissioner and CEO of LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, chaired a review meeting to assess the arrangements. He said the festival would not only showcase Ladakh’s cultural heritage but also serve as an opportunity to promote tourism, adventure sports, and local entrepreneurship.
The DC emphasised the importance of community participation, particularly through homestays and guesthouses, to ensure direct economic benefits for local residents. He appealed to contractors, trade associations, and other stakeholders to extend their cooperation for the smooth conduct of the festival.
