Kargil, Feb 01: The Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) and the Leh Apex Body (LAB) have joined forces, announcing a combined call for “Leh Chalo” and a region-wide “Kargil Bandh” on 3 February. The decision, stemming from an extensive core committee meeting between representatives of KDA and LAB, reflects a unified stance on key regional demands.
During a crucial meeting in Jammu, attended both physically and virtually by KDA members, a unanimous resolution was passed to observe a Kargil Bandh on the specified date. The collective action aims to articulate a united demand for Ladakh’s statehood, constitutional guarantees under the sixth schedule, the establishment of a Public Service Commission, expedited recruitment for Gazetted posts, job reservations, and the creation of separate parliamentary seats for Kargil and Leh.
The KDA extends an appeal to the people of Kargil in Leh, urging active participation and contribution to the success of the protest, “Leh Chalo.” Both the Leh Apex Body and KDA underline their commitment to addressing longstanding regional grievances, focusing on pivotal issues directly affecting the lives of Ladakhi residents.
Social and political activist Sajjad Kargili stated that on February 3, the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) and Leh Apex Body collaborated, declaring a joint call for “Leh Chalo” and a region-wide “Kargil Bandh” on the same day. This collective initiative is geared towards expressing a unified demand for Ladakh’s statehood and constitutional guarantees under the sixth schedule.
