Srinagar, Apr 29: Member of Parliament (MP), Srinagar, Aga Ruhullah Mehdi on Tuesday said justice is key to achieving lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to the media after visiting the residence of Syed Adil Hussain, who lost his life in the Pahalgam terror attack, Ruhullah said the people of J&K are the real victims and that a solution must come through justice—not just diplomacy or political moves.
“We are the victims, and we want peace through justice. Only then can we have a permanent solution in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said, adding that the real beneficiaries of that peace will be the people here.
The MP said he supports strong actions, but only if they are rooted in justice. “Whatever needs to be done, we will support it, but only as long as it brings justice,” he said.
Responding to a recent remark by the National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah, who had avoided speaking on statehood during a condolence session, Mehdi said the issue of statehood is crucial and cannot be ignored.
“Obituary and statehood are separate matters. It is understandable if someone avoids political issues during a condolence, but statehood remains a key concern for the people and must be addressed,” he added.
