JU’s Poonch Campus students visit Central Silk Board Bengaluru

Poonch, Feb 11: Students of the Department of Sericulture, Poonch Campus, University of Jammu, visited Central Silk Board, Bengaluru during an educational tour to South India.
Students of M.Sc. 3rd semester along with two teaching faculty Dr. Muzafar Ahmad Bhat and Sumya Kapoor during the visit interacted with M R Itagi, Scientist D, Central Silk Technological Research Institute (CSTRI, Bangluru). He gave a detailed lecture on Post Cocoon Technology and encouraged students to make Sericulture one of their sources of employment.
He remarked that the in coming years jobs will be shrinking to a higher extent and encouraged students to be a part of post-cocoon technology.
Soni Vijay Kumar, Scientist D, Vanya Silk Reeling Division also interacted with the students of the Poonch Campus. He demonstrated all the reeling units and explained the different kinds of silk in different reeling units.
Dilip Kakoti, Senior Technical Assistant VSRD took the charge of further explaining and demonstrating Post Cocoon Technology. The technical staff of Post Cocoon Technology supported it. After this secession, the students were allowed to move toward the Weaving and dyeing unit.
Dr. D. Sargunamani, Scientist D, CSTRI, Bengaluru first gave a detailed lecture on weaving and dyeing and then he with his co-workers demonstrated weaving and dying, particularly he demonstrated and explained computer dyeing.
