Jammu, July 27: Riding on a magnificent display with the willow by Arsalan and good show with the ball by Zaid and Hazim, the formidable team of JKCA Leopards outplayed Delhi Public School (DPS) Srinagar by 7 wickets in the summit clash to lift the title trophy of the first of its kind Inter-School U-14 Boys Cricket Tournament at Doon School Srinagar, Sunday.A statement issued here said that earlier, winning the toss and electing to bat first, DPS scored 148 runs in the stipulated 25 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process. Rouhan top scored with 45 runs, while Rafid contributed 29 runs to the total. For JKCA Leopards, Zaid bagged 3 wickets and Hazim claimed 2. JKCA Leopards chased the target easily in 14 overs by losing 3 wickets. Arsalan played a brilliant knock of 85 runs. For DPS Dayan took 2 wickets. The winners and runners-up teams/players were honoured by Brig Anil Gupta, Member Administration JKCA and Sunil Sethi, Member Legal Affairs JKCA with trophies and medals in the presence of a galaxy of dignitaries. Mementoes were presented to Delhi Public School and Doon School by former Treasurers of JKCA namely Prof Manzoor Wazir and Mir Manzoor Gazanffar, respectively, while the match officials were honoured by Abdul Qayoom Bagaw, Member CAC and Coordinator of the event.Arsalan was adjudged as the player of the match and the award was presented to him by Showkat Ahmed Khan, Chairman Doon School, Mir Hayan of Doon School was declared as the best all-rounder, who received the award from Kamli Sahab, Principal Doon School, Azim of DPS was declared as the promising player, who was presented the award by Iqbal Shah, former General Secretary JKCA, Arsalan of JKCA Leopards was also declared as the player of the series and was presented the award by Imtiyaz Ahmed Zargar. Speaking on the occasion, Brig Anil Gupta assured that JKCA is going to make the event an annual feature. He said JKCA is committed to promote cricket in every nook and corner of the Union Territory, adding that the object of this event was to tap talent at grassroots level.
