Girls outshine boys in merit list 103,308 students appeared; Over 30,000 secure distinctions Govt Schools excel with record pass percentage

Srinagar, Apr 30: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) on Wednesday announced the results for the Class 12 Annual Regular 2025 examinations, with an overall pass percentage of 74.83%.
Out of 103,308 students who appeared for the exam, 77,311 successfully passed. As in previous years, girls outshined boys, securing a pass percentage of 77.72%, compared to 71.95% among boys.
A total of 51,717 male candidates appeared, with 37,214 passing the exam. Among 51,691 female candidates, 40,097 passed, continuing the upward trend in girls’ academic performance.
Meanwhile, in a significant milestone, students from government schools in Jammu and Kashmir have set a new standard in the Class 12 examinations, drawing praise from top education authorities for their outstanding performance and the prompt declaration of results.
Minister for Education, Sakeena Itoo, extended her heartfelt congratulations to the successful students, praising their dedication and academic excellence. She especially lauded the performance of girl students for securing the majority of top positions.
“Our students have shown remarkable determination and achieved brilliant results,” she said. “Girls are excelling in every field, and their consistent performance reflects the shifting educational landscape in the region.”
She also encouraged students who did not meet expectations to remain positive:
“Exams are just one step in the journey. There are many paths to success, and every student has unique potential,” she added. The Minister further appreciated JKBOSE for compiling and releasing the results in a record 36 days.
Additional Chief Secretary for School and Higher Education, Shantmanu (IAS), also congratulated the successful students and praised the teaching community and board officials for their role in the smooth and transparent release of results. He noted that the coordination between educators and administrative staff was key in maintaining public trust in the education system.
Director of School Education Kashmir, G.N. Itoo, expressed pride in the students’ accomplishments, offering special congratulations to those who secured top ranks. He highlighted the success of several government schools, including GHSS Kothi Bagh Srinagar for Home Science, GHSS Nowhatta Srinagar for Arts, GHSS Bugam Budgam for Science, and GHSS Amirakadal Srinagar for Commerce.
Itoo also acknowledged the dedication of teachers and school heads whose efforts contributed to the exceptional results. He thanked parents for their unwavering support and faith in government institutions throughout the exam process.

PERFORMANCE BREAKDOWN:

Distinction: 30,622 students
First Division: 36,311 students
Second Division: 10,304 students
Third Division: 74 students
Reappear: 25,027 students
Failed: 970 students

MERITORIOUS ACHIEVERS:
Science Stream: Aanchal Parihar from S.P. Higher Secondary School, Jammu secured the top position with 495 marks (99%).
Commerce Stream: Adiba from Kashmir Harvard HSS, Habak Naseem Bagh, Srinagar also scored 495 out of 500, topping the stream with 99%.
Arts Stream: Areeza Javid from Green Valley Educational Institute, Ellahi Bagh, Srinagar emerged as the topper with 495 marks (99%).
Home Science Stream: Shibra from Government Girls HSS, Kothi Bagh, Srinagar scored 485 out of 500
(97%).
