Srinagar, Oct 28: The J&K UT Thang-Ta Championship 2023 culminated on Saturday at the Multipurpose Indoor Hall Polo Ground, Srinagar, witnessing an outstanding display of skill and dedication from over 450 participants hailing from various regions of Jammu and Kashmir. The event drew contestants from areas such as Jammu, Udhampur, Samba, Doda, Kishtwar, Reasi, Rajouri, Pooch, Kupwara, Bandipora, Srinagar, Shopian, Budgam, Kulgam, Pulwama, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Baramulla, and more.
Mahmood Shah, Director of Industries and Commerce, J&K, graced the ceremony as the esteemed chief guest, while Maqsood Khan, Manager of Polo Ground Srinagar, adorned the event as the guest of honour.
Reflecting on the championship’s success, Ayjaz Ahmad Bhat, the General Secretary of J&K Thang-Ta Association, praised the exceptional quality of this year’s event. He extended gratitude to all the technical officials whose efforts were instrumental in orchestrating this grand success. He particularly acknowledged the unwavering support of the J&K Sports Council, emphasizing that without their continuous backing, organizing such prestigious events would not be feasible.
Notably, the selected sub-junior and senior players will advance to the upcoming 29th Sub-Junior and Senior National Thang-Ta Championship 2023 scheduled to be held in Ranchi, Jharkhand in November 2023.
