J&K Sqay championship concludes in Srinagar: Srinagar secures 1st, Budgam 2nd, Shopian 3rd places in medal tally

Srinagar, Nov 08: Srinagar secured first, Budgam second, Shopian third places in overall medal tally in the 23rd J&K (UT) level Sqay championship which concluded at Sports Stadium Polo Ground Srinagar on Tuesday.
 
According to Technical Chairman Sqay Federation of India Mir Nazir, the J&K Sqay championship started on November 04 and concluded late in the evening on November 07, 2022. Around 1650 sqay artists from across J&K (UT) participated in the championship and exhibited their talent.
General Officer Commanding (GOC) 31 Sub-Area Major General Sanjay Pratap Singh Vishwas Rao, was the Chief Guest on the closing ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion Major Roa said that he is happy to see such a great enthusiasm in the sqay players in the event.
“Sqay- a kashmiri martial art, famous throughout the globe, is spreading throughout the world than other things from valley, ” he said.
He added Sqay- a big achievement for whole J&K is a sport which helps in keeping youths at bay from drug addiction and other anti-social activities.
He distributed medals among the winners and runers up on the occasion. 
District Srinagar secured first place while as district Budgam second and Shopian third place in overall medal tally respectively in the day four long competition.
The Sqay Championship was organised by J&K Sqay Association under the aegis of J&K sports council in collaboration with youth services and sports J&K.
