Srinagar, Apr 27: Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday reported 56 new Covid-19 cases taking the active caseload to 327 while a total of 3,479 tests were conducted across the labs.
As per the media bulletin issued by the Jammu and Kashmir government, of the 56 fresh Covid-19 cases, 26 are from Kashmir division and 30 are from Jammu division.
It said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir stands at 327 including 150 from Kashmir division and 177 from Jammu division.
In Kashmir division, the fresh cases reported today are eight from Srinagar, four each from Pulwama, Anantnag, three from Baramulla, two each from Budgam, Kulgam, Shopian and one from Gnderbal.
Similarly, in the Jammu division, the fresh cases include 21 from Jammu, four from Udhampur, four each from Doda, Samba and one from Reasi.
As per the media bulletin, 72 Covid-19 patients have recovered today including 26 from Kashmir division and 46 from Jammu division. It said all the 327 active cases are either in-home or hospital quarantine while 370 persons are under home surveillance.
In Jammu and Kashmir, Covid-19 cases started surging on April 02 when the Union Territory reported 19 fresh Covid-19 cases. The highest jump in Covid-19 cases was reported on April 14 with daily load of 151 cases.
However, the fresh cases started declining on April 22 when J&K saw only 11 cases. On April 23, 22 Covid-19 cases were reported and 11 cases on April 24. However, the cases again started surging as 60 cases were reported on April 25 and 89 cases on April 26.
Officials said no death was reported due to Covid-19 since the rise in cases was reported. Official figures said in the last 24 hours a total of 3,479 Covid-19 tests were conducted across testing labs in Jammu and Kashmir.
The health department has also tightened Covid-19 preparedness measures following reports of fresh surges in the UT while hospitals have been alerted.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had advised all the states and Union Territories to effectively implement a five-fold strategy of test, track, treat, follow Covid-19 appropriate behaviour and vaccinate to check the spread.
